Processing power is decent for a basic drawing tablet with 4 GB RAM and a 2Ghz Quad core MediaTek 8168 processor.

Luckily, Drawing is not too system-intensive. 4 GB RAM is low but will work perfectly. If you want a tablet for animation, go for tablets with 6GB RAM or higher.

The device also includes a decent port selection such as Type-C, Mini-SD card slot, audio jack, and micro HDMI connector which enables to mirror of the device on an external monitor/TV.

Unlike many other tablets, the stylus comes free in the box along with a tablet case.

The Picasso pen 2 is powered by a single AAA battery, highly responsive and pressure-sensitive around 1024 levels and it works well for sketching and calligraphy at beginner grade.

However, there are no shortcut buttons on the pen, and the pen remains active for about battery life, which can last for months.

To avoid the screen to be scratched with the pen, the Simbans Picasso tab comes with a pre-applied screen protector.

RAM

Both PicassoTab X and PicassoTab XL have 4GB memory. On Android, its good for basic needs like drawing, browsing or consuming media. For heavy tasks like animation, video editing, or photography you might need more.

The 6GB RAM of PicassoTab X14 and X11 tablet is good enough for multitasking. Overall performance of the tablet is smooth and apps are able to launch fast.

CPU

The CPU/Processor is the most important for performance. 2Ghz Quad core MTK8175 on PicassoTab X and XL is not as good as 2Ghz Octa core MTK8183 on PicassoTab X14 and X11 – about 45% slower CPU speed.

PicassoTab X14 and X11 tablet are not as fast as high-end  android tablets like samsung galaxy tab S10 but still powerful enough for everyday tasks.

Pressure Levels

The PicassoTab X and XL only has 1,024 pressure levels compared to thePicassoTab X14 and X11, which has 4,096, so it won’t be as responsive to changes in line width and will create more uniform lines.

Unfortunately, All Picasso pens here does need AAA batteries to work, however, the tablet already comes with 2 (one already installed).

Drawing Surface

All 4 PicassoTabs comes with an anti-glare matte screen protector. The matte finish provides a natural paper-like feel that is perfect for drawing, writing, and note-taking, while also reducing reflections and fingerprints.

non-laminated vs fully laminated screen

Both the PicassoTab X and XL have a non-laminated screen while the screen of newer PicassoTab X14 and X11 are fully laminted.

The laminated display is most significant if you plan to read outside.

The non-laminated displays have a tiny gap between the layers, and in-coming light will bounce around inside the screen causing glare.

In addition, Compared to non-laminated screens, full-laminated screens have the following advantages: Effectively reduces parallax and brings the pen tip closer to the cursor, allowing for more accurate positioning.

Screen Quality

Either 1,280 x 800 or 1,366 x 768 resolution on PicassoTab X and XL is a bit lower for 10-inch size tablet, I recommend at least 1080p to avoid pixelation.

PicassoTab X14 and X11 with FHD 1080p resolution is decent for such size, and the Color accuracy also looks pretty good.

Design and build quality

These Simbans PicassoTabs features a slim profile and a matte black finish that gives it a professional appearance.

While primarily constructed of plastic, they feels reasonably sturdy and well-built for its price point.

Onboard drawing software

All 4 Simbans PicassoTabs comes with pre-installed drawing and animation software, so it’s ready to use as soon as you boot it up.

They comes with two drawing apps, Concepts and Infinite Painter, and an animation app called FlipaClip.

So you don’t have to pay for any additional products from the get-go, making this a great option for a beginning artist on a budget.

How does PicassoTab X compare to other android drawing tablets?

When comparing the PicassoTab X to other tablets in the same category, the biggest competitor is Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite .

Compared to the PicassoTab X, the Tab S6 Lite is slighly better. Although Both The Picasso Tab X and Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite are limited by its low 4 GB RAM.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is a 10.4-inch android device for creating artwork. Its S Pen is more precise for drawing, has better pen performance, more comfortable to hold and use.

The PicassoTab doesn’t have the best pen latency, which may result in a slight lag when drawing. In addition, the palm rejection is not flawless, and the screen is not as bright or sharp as the samsung tablet.

The S6 Lite’s octa-core Exynos 1280 CPU offers the freedom to do much more than the Quad core MTK8168 CPU in PicassoTab X tablet.

PicassoTab X is obviously less powerful than Samsung galaxy tab s6 lite but you get what you pay for.

Conclusion

If you’re someone who doesn’t draw that frequently, is maybe on the budget, testing out the waters of digital art, or even likes to sketch on the go, PicassoTab X series will fit your needs.

Probably the best thing about the Simbans PicassoTab X is that it’s a freestanding tablet, meaning you don’t need to hook it up to a computer in order to use it. It has a battery life of five to eight hours, so you can draw comfortably on the couch, in class or wherever you are.

When buying a standalone tablet for drawing or other tasks, tech specs are very important. I recommend you get the newer PicassoTab X14 or PicassoTab X11 with higher specs and better performance.

Even though it’s made with drawing in mind, you can do every kind of work here and use it for other hobbies, such as Browse the internet, watch videos, or play games.

Once it arrives, you just need to turn on the tablet, use your account, or create a new one to connect yourself to Google Play, Gmail, and any other apps you want to install and connect yourself to and your tablet is ready for use!
