ugee drawing tablet not accessing the whole canvas

For drawing tablets, The UGEE brand is fantastic build quality and very affordable. highly recommended if you want to start your digital art career with a tight budget.

However, Sometimes you may encounter a situation where the ugge tablet does not work on the whole canvas or not working outside canvas.

This can be very frustrating especially if you know nothing about drawing tablets and unable to contact ugee tech support for a while.

Don’t worry, this is easy to fix. Usually it’s just a simple tweak in the driver to get your ugee tablet working properly.

ugee drawing tablet not accessing the whole canvas? 2 Fixes

1. Adjust the mapping area of your Ugee tablet

Usually if you can’t access an area of the screen it’s because of the wrong mapping way your ‘drawing area’ is set up. For example you can limit the drawing surface of the tablet or the screen to a limited area.

So check your Ugee driver settings – tablet active/drawing area mappings. The ugee tablet driver gives you options to set the tablet area and screen area.

Navigate to “Work Area” setting in ugee driver to define the mapping between the working area of the device and the display area of the screen.

There are two available options to set the monitor mapping area:

1. Dragging Four Sides:

Move the cursor to the middle or ends of the four sides, then press and hold the left mouse button to drag the four sides.

2. Screen Area Selection:

Click Advanced Settings, then choose Screen Area Selection. Click the upper left corner and lower right corner according to prompts from the bottom of the computer monitor, and select the mapping display area of the screen.

2. Uninstall and reinstall the driver

uninstall and install ugee tablet driver

Sometimes this problem may occur if the ugee driver is broken or outdated. In this case, please uninstall and reinstall it.

First, remove all user configuration file.

Then, in the control panel, uninstall the ugee tablet driver, and any other programs related to the pen tablet.

In the start menu search bar, search “ugee” and delete any files that come up (unless you can tell they have nothing to do with the tablet).

Restart the computer and unplug the ugee tablet.

When you’re up again, plug in the tablet (try another usb port if you can) and download the latest driver from the Ugee website.

Follow the instructions to set up your Ugee tablet. Restart the computer once more if it’s a windows machine.

Now, open Photoshop or whatever program and hopefully your mapping should be fine.

Should I force proportions in Ugee tablet?

Screen proportion in ugee tablet driver

You can sync the tablet proportion of your device’s Work Area and selected monitor’s full display area.

For example, if your monitor’s tablet proportion is 16:9, the device’s Work Area will be set as 16:9 after clicking on Tablet Proportion.

I think the best thing that you can do is to “force the proportion” of the tablet related to the screen ratio.

Why? If the size ratio between both are different when you try to draw a perfect circle you will get an oval (due to be diferent proportions of rectangles).

Also will afect to your lines angles. If you draw a line the angle of your stroke over the ugee tablet will be different than the showed on the screen.

Normally this will “cut” a little the tablet section, but you will be working with the full screen space.

Should I extend or duplicate display?

extend or duplicate display in ugee tablet driver

If you got a ugee drawing monitor, You can set the mapping between the display area of the current screen and the device.

If multiple monitors are used in duplicate mode, the work area of the device will be mapped to all monitors. When the pen moves in the work area, the cursor on all monitors will move at the same time.

If multiple monitors are used in extend mode, go to the monitor tabs to select one of the monitors that the work area of the device will be mapped to. Ugee drawing display is selected by default.

Based on my experience, If your screen is high-resolution, you will need to set the ugee monitor to Extend mode.

If your resolution is the same as or lower than the Ugee’s, then set it to Duplicate. If you are getting a big offset, this setting is the first thing you need to look at.
