Key Graphics Tablet Features in-depth comparison

Here’s a more in-depth analysis of the three tablets, These will help us better understand the pros and cons in each case.

Size of Active Area

The active area is the part of the tablet where you can draw. Larger areas provide more space for detailed work, while smaller ones are compact and portable.

All 3 tablets comes in a variety of sizes, so you can choose the one that fits your workspace. However, the wacom one pen tablet lacks the large 10 x 6 inch size option, while XPPen Deco lacks the small 6 x 4 inch size option.

Some people certainly prefer small. But for the vast majority of people who are looking I do recommend medium as a starting point if they are interested in sketching, painting, or any creative task that requires drawing with strokes.

The medium version with 8 x 5 inches active area offers a perfect balance between portability and ample working space.

The small version is not good for long drawing sessions and using it a lot it can be really clamped up. Unless you want to take it on the go, editing photos, or you really don’t have desk space, then that’s better.

I myself don’t even use a medium, but rather a large version. I really do prefere large arm movement’s for doing art – lineart, watercolor and realistic painting.

Stylus Pen

wacom one pen vs xppen x3 elite stylus vs huion pw110 pen

All of three pens, Wacom one stylus, Huion PW110, and XPPen X3 Elite Stylus are battery-free, and work through passive inductive technology. This means the pens do not have to be charged, which is a massive benefit.

All 3 pens include two programmable buttons, which can be customized for common shortcuts such as undo, erase, or brush resizing.

Pressure Sensitivity

Pressure sensitivity determines how well the tablet can capture the nuances of your strokes.

A higher pressure sensitivity means the tablet can pick up even the slightest changes in pressure, giving you a more natural drawing experience.

Both Huion PW110 and XPPen X3 Elite Stylus offer higher 8,192 levels of pressure sensitivity. On the other hand, Wacom one Pen only supports 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity.

In theory, Huion PW110 and XPPen X3 Elite Stylus should performs better. But in a real workflow, the difference between 4096 and 8192 is minimal (if noticeable at all).

Most current-gen tablets flash a big number for the pen pressure levels as a selling point. But based on my experience, pressure beyond 2048 the change is minimal and has no real impact on the way I draw.

In addition, it depends highly on your drawing style and skills how the higher pressure level band will be translated directly into your work. More skilled and experienced you are better the translation will be.

Tilt Sensitivity

Tilt sensitivity enables the stylus to detect the angle at which it is held, affecting the direction and shape of the brush stroke. It allows for dynamic line variation, making the digital experience feel closer to traditional media, especially the shading.

All 3 drawing tablets can detect the tilt of the pen. The support tilt for drawing tablets usually ranges from 0 degrees to 60 degrees.

In practical uses, the tilt sensitivity on the Wacom one stylus is more stable and works better than Huion PW110 and XPPen X3 Elite Stylus.

Drawing Performance

For many digital artist, The Wacom pen has always been the gold standard: accurate, light, fast, great tilt, and effortless.

A few years ago, stylus pens with high (IAF) were common for Huion (Inspiroy H1060p) and XPPen (Deco 01 V2) tablets, but this is slowly being phased out. They have come on leaps and bounds in recent years – XPPen X3 smart chip tech and Huion Pen tech 3.0.

High IAF means that you have to press slightly harder for the tablet to register your pen strokes. While most people don’t mind it, I’m very dependent on light strokes during my lineart process.

Their more recent stylus, the Huion PW110 and XPPen X3 Elite Stylus, comes with very low 3 g IAF, same as wacom one stylus.

So both XPPen and Huion pens are very sensitive that can pick up strokes from the lightest touch, and much better to hold than the wacom one stylus.

Surface Texture

All3 tablets have great surface texture, though the Wacom one’s surface feels a lot grittier and closer to paper than that of the Huion Inspiroy 2 and XPPen Deco M & L.

The Huion Inspiroy 2 and XPPen Deco M & L, while still having a great drawing surface, does feel a little smoother, and this may or may not be a good thing, depending on an artist’s preferences.

Personally, I like a little texture to our drawing area. It makes the drawing process feel a lot more natural. The downside is that the extra friction wears down your nib faster, so pick your poison well.

Shortcut Buttons

The Huion Inspiroy 2 has 8 customizable buttons and a scroll wheel to the left of the drawing area.

Scroll Wheel is a type of advanced shortcut buttons that can perform more complicated tasks such as changing the size of brush and eraser by simply rotating the wheel.

XPPen Deco M & L offers only 8 hotkeys without scroll wheel,

In comparison, Wacom one pen tablet lacks customizable buttons for quick shortcuts, which could affect workflow efficiency.

Wireless Connectivity

Typically, Wireless connectivity offers greater portability, and reduce the cable clutter on your workspace.

The biggest advantage for me of the Wacom One is the fact that it can be connected via bluetooth. Even if you do need to connect it, the simple USB-C connectivity makes it still very seamless.

XPPen Deco M & L is available with or without Bluetooth, giving you the option that works best for you. If you choose the wireless version, you need to pay extra $20 than wired only version.

Final, The Huion Inspiroy 2 lacks wireless or bluetooth functionality.

Build Quality

Despite their cheap prices, Both Huion Inspiroy 2 and XPPen Deco tablets have great build quality. I loved the feel. They felt like they were made from good quality materials and would last.

Wacom One tablet as always are made from the premium materials with great build quality.

Compatibility

All 3 tablets are compatible with most major operating systems and work well with a variety of graphic software.

If you want to use them with an android tablet or phone, the included USB-C cable is very convenient, no adpater required.

In addition, Both wacom and XPPen also includes some nice software bundles (Free Trial), like Clip Studio Paint, and ArtRage Lite, making them a great value.

Driver Software

The Wacom software seems better in functionality, stability, and is better laid out, and support different profiles for different programs.

The drivers of Huion and Dell are getting better and better, and the gap in functions and stability with Wacom is not much.

Conclusion

Wacom is one of the most trusted names in drawing tablets, and the One is their entry-level model.

Wacom one cost a lot more than other 2 tablets but what it provide in return is quality and great drawing experience. It is very reliable with everything working smoothly without any bugs or issues.

But if you want a good tablet with a large working area and ample of shortcut options, the Huion and XPPen tablets are a better choice.

They can get the job done well too. and when you add up what the XPPen and Huion offers for the price tag, it’s hard to argue its anything but fantastic value for money.

So it comes done to cost, features, and your preference. Remember, you don’t have to spend a fortune to get started with digital art.
