After you buy a new xppen (aka xp pen or xp-pen) drawing tablet, The drivers always have to be installed.
Otherwise your computer would just take it as a regular pen device without pressure sensitivity and the express keys customization is also not available.
However, when you visit the driver download page of xppen official site, You might be surprised to find out that they offer two versions of the driver:

Which xppen driver version do i install?
The answe is simple, Usually when xppen release a new driver they leave the old one available in case the new one has bugs or is unstable for people, then they have an option to roll back to the previous version.
Generally speaking, you just need to download the newest driver for your operating system. but if that version is not stable for your computer and xppen tablet, you can download the another old version.
If you already have a very old tablet model and need older version of the official driver, send a email to their support. Or you can try OpenTabletDriver, if your tablet is supported.
How to correctly install XPPen driver?
Go to driver download page of xppen site , Click on your tablet model, Download the latest driver for your operating system (Windows or Mac).
After a successful installation, the driver’s icon will appear in your systems tray and on the desktop.
If you have a windows computer, A systems reboot will be required after the installation is complete. Mac OS doesn’t need reboot.
Then you can plug your XPPen tablet into your computer to configure and use it.
Before installation, please temporarily close the antivirus software and firewall, and all opened software.
Additionally, The drivers for any two different brands of tablets cann’t coexist.
Because they need to call the same instruction. So there will be conflicts.
So if you want to install the XPPen driver and want it to work, you need to uninstall other brands of drivers first.
How to completely uninstall XPpen tablet drivers?
If you no longer use the XPPen tablet, or you suspect the driver is causing problems with your windows or mac operating system, you can uninstall it.
Unplug your XPPen tablet from your computer.
Uninstall all XPPen tablet drivers via the control panel > Reboot your computer
Note that If you find your driver uninstallation was not completely removed, please manually uninstall your driver.
To manually uninstall tablet drivers, follow the below steps.
Go to File Explorer > This PC > click on Local Disk (C:).
In the administrator mode, search the following:
tablet.dat
pen_tablet.dat
Next, go to This PC > Local Disk (C:) > Windows.
Search in folders SysWOW64 and System32 for the following — wintab*.*
Delete those files and restart your computer.
