Deco 01 V2 is an excellent and attractive mid-range drawing tablet, which lies in ample 10 * 6.25 inches active area, precise battery-free pen and affordable price point.

In 2024, XPPen launches an upgraded model – deco 01 V3, and there is also another good tablet called Deco L in the Deco Line.

If you are a beginner, You may be confused aboutwhich one is more worthwhile, what benefits do each of them have in comparison.

XPPen Deco 01 V2 vs Deco 01 V3 vs Deco L Comparison

What’s the difference between the XPPen Deco 01 V2 and Deco 01 V3?

You can’t tell the difference between them from the Appearance, The only difference is older XPPen Deco 01 V2 has 8,192 levels of pressure sensitivity, while upgraded Deco 01 V3 version supports 16,340 levels of pressure sensitivity.

In theory, this is a huge upgrade, but if you have both tablets in hand, you won’t be able to feel the difference from the drawing experience.

The standard pressure sensitivity on a drawing tablet is 4096, but there are not many people who can see the difference between tablets of higher or lower levels.

In other words, This is a gimmick to sell more product to people who don’t know better.

These two tablets are essentially the same tablet – even the price, xppen just upgraded the data on the firmware.

XPPen Deco 01 V3 vs XPPen Deco L: Which One is Better?

XPPen Deco L is definitely better than the XPPen Deco 01 v3 in terms of the digital pen, and drawing experience.

Although supports 16383 levels of pressure sensitivity, The P05D stylus of the Upgraded XPPen Deco 01 V3 doesn’t come with their advanced x3 smart chip pen tech.

Thus, the Initial Activation Force (IAF) of Deco 01 V3 is very high at 30g. On the other hand, The X3 Elite stylus of Deco L tablet features X3 smart chip that comes with lower 3g IAF.

For reference, the IAF of a Wacom pen is typically between 1g and 3g.

The Initial Activation Force is the smallest amount of pressure that an EMR pen will detect and report. High IAF means that you have to press slightly harder for the tablet to register your pen strokes.

I have both of the two tablets, Deco 01 V3 doesn’t seem to register very light strokes which im used to draw on paper. I need to press hard.

Deco L tablet has an immensely better stylus than Deco 01 V3 in terms of sensitivity, accuracy, pressure feel, etc. The X3 smart chip pen tech definitely aren’t a gimmick – more sensitive and accurate.

The deco L tablet comes with same big 10 * 6 inches active area, 8 hotkeys and slightly higher price point – you need only to pay extra $10 more. In my opinion, it’s definitely worth it.

The Build quality of the Deco L tablet is more durable than deco 01 v3 with a rubber padding around the edge that helps protect it from bumps and scuffs.

In addition, If you want a wireless XPPen tablet, go for the Deco LW with Bluetooth.

Conclusion

XPPen Deco 01 V2 and Deco 01 V3 look to be the exact same tablet anyway. If you already have a Deco 01 V2, don’t buy the new Deco 01 V3!

In addition, Both XPPen Deco 01 V3 and Deco L are very good screenless graphic tablets at a very reasonable price.

All are very slim and comfortable to draw on, the size is big enough that my hand never really overhangs off the surface.

if you are serious about your art and want a great drawing feel and exactness, then I would sugget you go for the XPPen Deco L.

Having said that, everything that is done with the Deco L can be done with the Deco 01 V3.

If you’re on a budget, save $10 money and go for the cheaper XPPen deco 01 V3.
